Winners of the "What's Your Big Idea?" Challenge Converge in Louisville to Transform Their Ideas Into Action at 7th Annual IdeaFestival

Civilians across the country responded to last month's Geek Squad call for ideas for using technology to tackle eWaste, conserve power and maximize untapped resources. Beginning yesterday, and continuing through Saturday, six of these "Edison's-in-the-making" are putting their ideas into action at IdeaFestival in Louisville. The winning ideas from the "What's Your Big Idea" Challenge are:

-From Todd Hile-Hoffer of Red Hill, PA: Create a Home Comfort System, allowing users to set desired humidity, with max and min temp
-From Michael Hurley of Ridgewood, N.J.: Develop packaging for electronics that serve as pre-paid mailers for recycling
-From Jon Maxwell Osbon of Santa Clara, CA: Build a "Green Cell Phone," made of biodegradable pieces
-From Jack Ray of Port Austin, MI: Work with retailers to develop a "deposit" fee when they sell electronics, similar to bottles for recycling
-From Nicole Rund of Phoenix, AZ: Utilize power generated by exercise equipment in gyms to power their TVs or lights
-From Edward Toro of Miami, FL: Use everyday human motion to charge mobile devices like cell phones and iPods
